Each of us fell in love with a collie in his own way: someone
was nursed by a collie, someone couldn't resist the charm
of Lassy from a famous film, someone noticed a misterious
smile of a neighbour's dog...
From
this view point my childhood was unlucky: there were neither
dogs nor cats at home...
That's why when my husband Andrey started talking about
a puppy I only waved away terrified - what dog are you talking
about having two tiny kids?! Dogs mean dirt, hair everywhere,
fleas... or what can be worse, worms!
Andrey only sighed sadly, but didn't insist. From time to
time he recalled his collies Chazy and Yagira, who, at his
teen-ager's, accompanied him in his going in for sports
in DOSAAF club.
Till now a tremendous number of diplomas and medals of these
wonderful collies are saved
in our home.
And once in a local train I saw a lady with a puppy of a
Caucases shepherd, and my heart went pit-a-pat - I wanted
to have a puppy! Our daugters had already grown up by that
time, and I thought it could be a good companien for us
in our walks both in the city and country-side...
Each breed has something to admire, I'm sure.
And in case I had enough money at that moment maybe now
I would be describing the advantages of the 'caucases'.
But luckily I lacked money and felt shy to ask for a discount
or delayed payment...
I couldn't give up the idea of having a puppy. But that
time Andrey waved away: it's summer time, everyone is out
of the city in their summer houses, where can I find a proper
litter? And, having two daughters, one can only talk of
a collie puppy!
Here the most interesting events started! It occured that
almost in 20 years the dog-breeders ыешдд remembered Andrey
and his dogs! In Elita-club we were advised to have a female
puppy from a litter of Yudgi-Zaura, many Dog-Shows' winner,
and an Estonian Dog.
That was our SANTA!

One
could hardly find a dog cleverer than her - the high INTELLEGENCE
was present there! Every day of her life she 'conquered'
us with her behaviuor, which not every human-being was able
for.
Faithfulness and reliability, kindness and delicasy - these
qualities can't leave you indifferent to such a dog.
Of course, I also fell in love with this extraordinary breed!
When
Santa was 1 year old the history of our kennel developed
unexpectedly.
Mrs.Audrey F. Chatfield was coming to St. Petersburg to
gudge the dog-show. Our family was given an honour by the
CLUB to receive Mrs. Chatfield at our home. During ten days
we had a chance to communicate the most interesting person,
who influenced the collie breed so much. Everyone knows
the "DUNSINANE" kennel! It's an alive legend!
We became friends, called each other within the next year...And
once I had a courage to ask Audrey for help to choose a
puppy for us from an English kennel. To make a long story
short, during her next visit Audrey brought us our unforgettable
Happy (INGLEDENE HAPPI IN LOVE
born 20.02.94).
Santa did her best to bring the puppy up:
We've
got priceless advices from Happy's breeder, Mrs. Valerie
Geddes. Happy's first 'marriage' - with a dog INGLEDENE
LOVE THOUGHTS (STEPAN), who lived in Russia, in Lipetsk,
by Sophia Fedotova, was planned by her as well. But before
the 'marriage' we've won all the highest rewards 'the bride'
had to have - participated in Dog-Shows both in our native
and far-away cities, won and lost, but it was always interesting
and funny. We are fond of travelling!
In
90's it was difficult to develop such a non-commercial breed
as collie in Russia. And 1998 didn't leave us any hope at
all. The puppies from our kennel got into good families,
they were loved and properly treated, their owners denied
themselves a lot for dogs. But of course, doctors and teachers,
had no finance enough for dogs' 'career'. Nevertheless,
we are friends till now.
Both Santa and Happy were always our best friends...
